The CCTL is introducing a new resource for faculty, instructors, and graduate student instructors of record: CCTL Faculty Teaching Handbook. This handbook, which is updated annually, serves as a centralized resource for the UChicago teaching community and contains information that you may need over the course of an academic year. Contents include:
- Resources for faculty and instructors about the logistics of teaching at UChicago (e.g., how to locate your roster, how to enter final grades, what technology is available in your classrooms).
- Policies such as the honor code, FERPA, Title IX and their respective reporting procedures.
- Sample syllabus statements you may choose to include in your syllabus, such as policies for accommodating students’ disabilities and their religious observances, how students may use AI tools in your courses, and how you are addressing diversity and inclusion in the classroom.
- Resources for students in your courses including support for academic, mental and physical health, and urgent financial needs.
- Handling concerns about students or student emergencies.
If you have suggestions for materials to include in future editions of the Faculty Teaching Handbook, please contact teaching@uchicago.edu.
