Request an ITC or MCR for Graduate Students

Requests for Individual Teaching Consultations (ITCs) and Midcourse Student Feedback (MCRs) for Graduate Students must be submitted by Friday, October 6 at 5:00PM.

ITCs and MCRs provide graduate instructors and teaching assistants the opportunity to assess and reflect on their teaching practices and advance their pedagogical development in a constructive and confidential manner.

ITCs for Graduate Students

During an ITC, a trained Graduate Teaching Consultant observes and records a single class session led by a graduate instructor or teaching assistant and provides constructive feedback in a written report. Prior to the observation, the Teaching Consultant meets with the graduate instructor to discuss course and consultation goals. After the observation, the video recording is shared and reviewed, and the Teaching Consultant provides constructive feedback in a post-observation meeting and in a written report.

Note: ITCs take place between weeks 4-7 of the quarter.

MCRs for Graduate Students

During an MCR, a trained Graduate Teaching Consultant facilitates a 20-minute discussion with students during class time without the instructor present to learn about what aspects of a course currently enhance student learning and what adjustments might further promote learning for the remainder of the quarter. The Teaching Consult interprets this feedback and shares it with the instructor through a meeting and written report.

Note: ITCs take place between weeks 4-6 of the quarter.
