Writing about Teaching: A Reading Group on Pedagogical Research and Publication Meeting 4

When:
Wednesday, May 8, 2024 2:30pm - 3:30pm
Where:
Wieboldt 310 D/E
Speaker:
Presented by CCTL Associate Pedagogy Fellows Maeve Hooper, Assistant Senior Instructional Professor in the Department of Germanic Studies & Shaunna McLeod, Assistant Instructional Professor in the Department of Chemistry
Description:

The aim of this reading group is to gain familiarity with different forms of pedagogy-focused research and writing. We will read and discuss articles from discipline-specific scholarly journals, from general pedagogy and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) journals, and from popular press publications like the Chronicle of Higher Ed. In collaborative sessions, we will work together to identify key features of the genre and reflect on how these may differ according to the discipline and/or publication. Through this process of exploration, analysis, and reflection, participants may begin to think through how they might contribute to pedagogical literature and perhaps start to formulate their own research questions related to teaching and learning.

Two meetings will be held in the Spring Quarter. Attendance at all meetings is not required; you are welcome to join us for either or both meetings!
