Mac Crite joined the Chicago Center for Teaching and Learning in May 2025 as the Assistant Director of STEM Pedagogy. Prior to joining the CCTL, Mac worked at the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning at Yale University and the Center for Teaching, Research, and Learning at American University.
Mac earned their PhD in microbial pathogenesis with a focus in virology from Yale University in 2022. They have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in biology, virology, and research ethics, as well as organizing courses for faculty and graduate students on equitable course design.
At UChicago, Mac is excited to assist STEM faculty and instructors with developing equitable, accessible, and rigorous courses that use evidence-based teaching methods. They are particularly interested in universal design principles and novel ways to teach critical thinking to STEM students.
