In a nine-week quarter system, the transition from the Winter to Spring can often feel rushed and frantic. This hurried pace leaves little time for reflection and rejuvenation. Additionally, we now face an evolving landscape in higher education, in which technological, social, and political changes bring new challenges for teaching and learning. Our hope is that the opportunities highlighted in this Spring Quarter newsletter will provide you with a chance to reflect, build a sense of community around teaching, and explore new pedagogical approaches to these emergent challenges.
One such opportunity is our Spring Pedagogy Symposium, scheduled for Friday, May 9th from 11:00AM to 2:15PM. This year, the CCTL is honored to host writer, editor, and educator John Warner. He is the author of several books, including his most recent 2025 publication, More Than Words: How to Think About Writing in the Age of AI. Warner will deliver a keynote address and facilitate a guided discussion with faculty and instructors. In preparation for the Symposium, the CCTL and the University Writing Program will host a Lunchtime Reading Group for faculty and instructors to discuss Warner’s latest book. More information can be found here.
We look forward to connecting with you throughout the Spring Quarter. Should you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at teaching@uchicago.edu.
