The Chicago Center for Teaching provides a wide range of services to UChicago graduate student instructors, postdocs, and faculty for professional and pedagogical development.

For Graduate Students and Postdocs

CCT’s Teaching Consultants facilitate peer observations and feedback for grad students and postdocs. These include individual teaching consultations, comprised of recorded classroom observation and pre- and post-meetings to discuss course goals and concerns, as well as mid-course review sessions.

CCT Staff are available for one-on-one consultations on course and syllabus design, statement of teaching philosophy and teaching portfolios, general teaching advice, as well as cover letters and teaching demos.

For Faculty and Departments

CCT Staff provide confidential consultation services by request to all faculty members and academic departments, divisions, and schools. Some of the teaching services offered include classroom observation, course and syllabus design, and student evaluations. We are also available to consult with you regarding grants and teaching portfolios.

The CCT also helps all University of Chicago instructors work to maintain a positive diversity climate and provide a robust educational experience for all students. Inclusive teaching refers to the ways in which classroom activities, curricula, and assessment are designed and delivered to engage all students in learning that is meaningful, relevant, and accessible. As part of this mission, the CCT offers informal brown-bag sessions, structured and interactive seminars & workshops, as well as one-on-one consultations focused on inclusive teaching practices.
