Teaching@Chicago is an orientation for teaching assistants, designed to introduce the culture, structure, and teaching resources at the University of Chicago. This half-day webinar will include presentations on the role and responsibilities of teaching assistants, the role of the CCT, pedagogical strategies, graduate and undergraduate plenary sessions that focus on teaching and learning in the time of COVID-19, and relevant UChicago resources. All new graduate student instructors, TAs, CAs, Core Interns, and Writing Interns, are invited.
Our goal is that you take away a set of approaches and resources to support the success of your first UChicago teaching experience. Namely, participants should gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a teaching assistant within this community, receive an introduction to the core principles and practices of teaching and learning, and have clarity about next steps in your teaching development.
This year’s event is online, so you must register in ZOOM at least 48 hours in advance. You will receive a confirmation from ZOOM once registration is complete.
Please note that our conference is a general TA orientation.
