This Spring, the CCTL hosted a virtual three-panel series "Reflecting on Teaching With, Without, and About AI", moderated by CCTL Executive Director Joe Lampert. The series engaged faculty and instructor speakers from disciplines across campus to explore approaches to the integration and investigation of AI in the classroom.
The first panel discussed allowing or leveraging student AI use and explored considerations such as learning goals, student guidance and constraints, and assessment. The second panel focused on approaches to encouraging student learning without AI, particularly through the lenses of learning goals, student motivation and policy, and assessment design. In the third panel, discussants presented courses that approach AI as an area of intellectual engagement for students, whether the aim is to investigate the cultural, social, or philosophical implications of the technology, or focus on AI as a subject or a tool for inquiry itself.
