Faculty Consultations

Individual Teaching Consultations are available to individual faculty who would like help in the following areas:

  • videotaping a class session
  • feedback on course syllabi and teaching portfolios
  • course revision
  • classroom crises
  • developing tools for assesment and evaluation
  • or other issues in classroom teaching.

These consultations are designed to give new and experienced teachers feedback on their teaching, and to provide an opportunity to discuss teaching strategies in relation to classroom teaching goals.  Faculty who are teaching in a new format or setting, or are unaccustomed to the American classroom, or are simply interested in improving their teaching are also encouraged to use this resource to consider different techniques in light of their pedagogical goals. (In these cases, feedback will be given by peers with teaching experience comparable to that of the faculty member.)

Any member of the faculty who is teaching a course or planning to teach a course may choose to consult the Center on issues related to classroom teaching. If interested please conact us at teaching@college.uchicago.edu or call 773-834-4439.
